So was wondering if there's a secret way to get into the general store? Or do I just have to wait forever till it opens?
You have to go to the bank first and then the store will open up.
Okay I went to the bank and got the store open. I then went and got my gun. But for some reason when I try to shoot in the target range it doesn't shoot at all. Any suggestions? Thanks for the info.
hmmmm. strange. I hate that damn targate range!
I had the same problem once, my gun simply wouldn't fire at the range. You might try going back to it later. If not, you might have to restart your character.
JUst forget about the target range. It sucks. Go back into the bank.
Okay tried all suggestions and still the gun won't shoot. I don't think it likes windows vista so I uninstalled the game. Thanks for all the help.
Have you installed the patch? I know it locks up on a lot of new machines, so if you haven't tried that go to the Bavisoft website and download and install the patch, should work fine after that.
That's one reason a lot of people don't like Bavisoft. Their games are ill-equipped to handle WIndows Vista and they don't seem in too big of a hurry to address these issues. And they're so secretive about their new projects that it almost makes ou wonder if they're even sill in business. That and there have been problems with shipping. A lot of people placed orders and not received them.
And grizly gulch isn't really replayable. It sucks.
Nor is Chillingham for that matter. But Bavisoft wants to, "keep the details aout our upcoming projects close to the vest." That's all well and good bt they're even more secretive than Draconis Entertainment or GMA Games, who at least make sure their customers are kept up to speed with what's going on. But Bavisoft only responds on the AudioGames.net forum when someone suggests that their current games ought to be made abandonware and made available as free downloads. Their response is usually something along the lines of please do not do this. We're still in business. I'm not saying I condone piracy but the way I see it is that Bavisoft has brought any problems they have with that on themselves by their lack of customer relations. So it's hard to have much sympathy for them. And they definitely need to ditch only selling their games on CD. That would elimate the problems they have with shipping. And they need to start offering playable demos of their games rather than just the audio reviews. They're all well and good but still...
Yes. The audio reviews don't tell you everything. I wonder what features should you be aloud to play in a demo version of GG?
Maybe the target range, the bank, the saloon and perhaps the first bounty mission? You might get your saddle and start out for the second bandit (Stealing Steve if I recall correctly), but it might cut off before the trip ended and say something like, "Thanks for playin' the demo. That's all for now. Hope ya buy the full game!" or something along those lines.
yeah. There should be a demo. I got mine a few years ago I think.
And let's not forget what happened when the Bavisoft site got taken over by a virus for a few months. That was really suspicious because they sure took a long time to fix it. As for not shipping orders, that's not cool at all. I seriously hope they at least refund those people's money if they're not going to send the cd's. I'm glad I bought Grizzly Gulch when it first came out and they were still going strong.
Well the way they tell it is that they shipped the games and they were lost in transit. To ther credit I will say that from what I've heard most if not all the people who initially said they hadn't received orders eventually did get their packages. But I still think Bavisoft has a poor policy at best. Their lack oof customer relations would be unacceptable even in the mainstream market and it's even more so in our small market. They claim they're still in business but they won't say what they're working on, which understandably has made a lot of people skeptical. It was four years between Grizzly Gulch and Chillingham and it's now been six years since Chillingham was released. And from what I've heard the games don't run very well on Windows Vista (I don't know about Windows 7 yet). Heck, they didn't always run very well on XP from what I noticed. And so far they've done nothing except ask people not to pirate their games whenever someone suggests that if Bavisoft can no longer support them or no longer wish to do so then they should be made freeware. I'm not saying I condone piracy, but the way I see it, and others do agree, is that if Bavisoft is having problems with piracy they've brought them on themselves by their nonexistent customer service and support, not to mention by not giving us any tangible indication that they're still working on development. They also seem to ignore customer suggestions, even ones that might actually make their job a lot easier. Oh they say thanks and we'll consider your suggestion but that's as far as it ever goes.
As far as I can tell, the games run ok on Vista. My boyfriend and another friend of mine have had no problems anyway. On my xp machine, Chillingham often crashes, and Grizzly Gulch wouldn't work until I installed the patch. So they're unstable, and honestly not the best games I've ever played anyway. Grizzly Gulch blew me away at the time, partly because it was the first audio game, and partly because I was like 10 at the time lol, so I think any accessible game I could actually play would have sparked my interest. After you beat it though, the novelty is gone, which is a shame since the events play out the same way every time. I can think of about 20 things they could do to make that game more interesting, but unfortunately they probably never will.
Well I don't know about the first audio game ever but it was certainly the first audio game I ever got my hands on. And like others it blew me away for a little while, but I never saw much point in trying to beat it on the harder difficulty since there's no alternate ending for doing it.
I'm not sure, but I think this was the first audio game for Windows. The Accessible Games series that included blackjack and yahtzee and all those wasn't far behind it, but I seem to recall that the huge deal about Grizzly was that it was the first audio game for Windows. Jim Kitchen had lots of DOS games before that, which I also played, and so did PCS.
Hmmm. I don't recall. Guess I'll take your word for it LOL. But it's sad to see what Bavisoft has come to, people thinking they're frauds or at the very least no longer in business and nothing they say convinces them otherwise since they do absolutely nothing.
Wow thanks this is interesting info. I may notfrom after this. Good thing I gott gg while the company was still going strong. buy any more games
Uhm, what was that?
Yeah, gg is not good for replay, but I also think more games should be like chillingham. Point and click is still stron for sighted people, so I know the potential is their for awesome sound based adventure games like that.
Even Chillingham isn't very replayable since let's face it the vast majority of the game is that damn bug hunt.
Of course I think my least favorite part of Chillingham is that tomb puzzle. I wouldn't think a sequence of only four tones with only four tones to choose from would be that hard to ferret out but you'd be surprised...
